As of summer 2021, companies exporting products to Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia, and Kyrgystan must include a Global Location Number in their application for Eurasian (EAC) Declarations or Certificates of Conformity.
A Global Location Number (GLN) is a unique, 13-digit international code that identifies the location of the manufacturing site of a given product. Whereas a mailing address can be imprecise and more susceptible to human error, a GLN can specify an exact location in a digital- and database-friendly format.
One GLN is required for each manufacturing address, so if a product is manufactured at more than one location, the company will need to obtain multiple GLNs. A GLN is typically valid for one year at a time and must be renewed annually.
Customs Union countries—Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia, and Kyrgystan—now require a valid GLN for any new EAC Declaration of Conformity (DoC) or Certificate of Conformity (CoC). Existing EAC Declarations of Conformity or EAC Certificates of Conformity did not have to be updated right away, but the GLN number will be required when the DoC or CoC is renewed.
Products manufactured within the Customs Union
are not subject to this GLN requirement.
