How a Field Evaluation from G&M Compliance Can Help Your Product

G&M Compliance offers expert onsite inspections, known as field evaluations, that help ensure your most important systems comply with applicable safety standards.

Field evaluations are performed when equipment is out in the field but does not have a currently active certification from a certification body or a report from a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL).

There are several situations in which a field evaluation may be required. If the equipment was manufactured according to different standards—for example, electrical switchgear manufactured in China being used in a U.S. substation—the owner, utility company, or local electrical inspector may request a field evaluation to ensure the equipment meets safety and performance requirements. Field evaluation may also be required for equipment that was certified as compliant but was modified later on; for example, if switchgear is UL Listed for use in the U.S., and then bus taps are made in order to add new switchgear sections or connect to solar power, a field evaluation should be performed to ensure the final product is compliant with performance requirements.

What a G&M Compliance Field Evaluation Can Do

G&M Compliance has a team of seasoned experts with deep knowledge of the relevant safety specifications and how they should be applied to a wide range of equipment. We respond quickly to field evaluation and labeling requests, and we can help you determine if a field evaluation is the right fit for your equipment and situation.

If so, one of our highly trained, detail-oriented engineers will come to the location where the equipment is being used and evaluate its compliance with the relevant standards. If the equipment passes this thorough evaluation successfully, G&M Compliance can apply a field label to the product. This label demonstrates to Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ), inspectors, facility managers, contractors, and manufacturers that the equipment will perform according to safety and performance standards.

G&M Compliance can also help companies avoid costly retrofitting by ensuring products are compliant with applicable regulations before they are shipped to the destination. With an office in Beijing, China, and the U.S., G&M Compliance facilitates communication between local experts in each location to bring products into compliance before they leave the factory.

G&M Compliance performs field evaluations for a wide variety of products and situations, including food preparers and processors; hospitals and medical offices; manufacturers of information technology equipment, machines, telecom, audio/video equipment, and semiconductors; solar and wind power; and printers and packagers.
