Labeling and Marking Requirements for EAC Certification

Every out shopping and notice a bunch of symbols and shapes on the back of your product? Most of these are called labels or certification marks indicate that the products have met certain certification requirements to trade within your area. And this is not only a requirement for your area but almost all products that are sold or bought throughout the world.

In the Eurasian Economic Union, it is required to have Eurasian Conformity Certification (EAC) Mark to signify products importing through the EAEU met the safety requirement standards. This certification can be effective in the following countries: Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.

Before the EAC Certification became into effect, Russia used to require the GOST-R mark to demonstrate compliance with national regulations. Starting in August 2013, Russia now uses an EAC certification to indicate compliance in not only Russia but the other four Eurasian counties also. The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) now acts as the center of these countries promoting free trade in the area and streamlining requirements for international manufacturers.

How do I know if I need an EAC Certification for my product?

All manufacturers are responsible for keeping up-to-date with their certifications and requirements to sell their products within the EAEU. Any misunderstanding or mishaps in applying or labeling can suspend business. This can lead to delays in customs and your product will not be allowed to be sold within EAEU.

There are many different types of products that are required by law to have an EAC mark and the list is still being updated. So, it would be preferred to keep up-to-dare with their requirements by visiting their official site, Eurasian Economic Unions Site. Each product has unique technical regulations for each category, and the manufacturer is responsible for determining which requirement to apply to their product. Products that fall into more than one category must comply with all applicable technical regulations. If the product does not explicitly require EAC certification, the manufacturer may still decide for voluntary certification.
